Good Morning America, Tim Tebow, RetailMeNot, and Ford Surprise Youth Basketball Charity with Generous Support

I was happy to work with Good Morning America (GMA) this past December to assist them with screening NewFlex Hoops, aka NewFlex Youth Programs, a New York based charity that focuses on mentoring youth through basketball and other sports programs. This is a small charity primarily run by volunteers that provides important youth programs in an underserved community.

NewFlex Hoops was founded six years ago by college basketball coach Nesta Felix. In addition to honoring Felix for her personal investment of money and time into a charity that receives little other support, Good Morning America surprised the non-profit with a $10,000 cash donation from online coupon company RetailMeNot, a supply-stocked computer lab from WayFair presented by footballer Tim Tebow, and a vehicle donation from Ford Motors.

Felix was widely praised by participants in her charity's programs, as well as their parents, who credit Felix and her charity with helping local kids avoid the perils of gangs, drugs, and teen pregnancy through participation in NewFlex Hoops' sports and mentoring programs. As reported by ABC News, one particpant told GMA, “I feel that I have made myself a better person, ‘cause without Coach Felix I would probably be on the street, doing the wrong thing or following other people. She’s a miracle.”
